Royal Icing and ART - UPDATED

Ephemeral art from The Immanent Landscape Exhibition at West Space Gallery - Melbourne Titled INTO ANOTHER FOREST - by Ai Sasaki , 2009. The piece is made from Royal Icing measuring 6 x 22Mt. The room was filled with the presence of this beautiful art work, looking almost like an embossing on the wall. Ai Sasaki is inspired by stories of Port Philip Bay. Her work transforms the gallery to another place: intricate, delicate, a landscape full of secret desires and entanglements.

Her work reminds me of a book by Clive Barker that I read many years ago, titled Word Weave. Ai Sasaki Weaves words with Royal Icing, and does so with flair and expertise, engaging the viewer into another time and place.

This piece was done by a Japanese artist. I can't remember her name, but if you go to Westspace Gallery, where it was on exhibit, I'm sure they will have a reference to it.
